It took me almost 2 days to put up yabBLOG and to make it functional. It was just like putting up Lego blocks. On September 31st i finally decided to open my personal blog yabBLOG. I would like to share my experience of the last two days from choosing the domain registrar till choosing and customizing the wordpress theme.

Domain registrar and Web host – My previous site GeekAdda was registered and hosted by hostican. Primarily because it was cheap and i had no idea about all this at that time. This time for domain registrar i picked godaddy. Although, i picked godaddy for web hosting too but only for 2 months, since i have heard not so good about godaddy’s webhosting. I will be moving to faster web host after that.

Backend – Although, i have been working with joomla(cms) for quite a some time now for my other site GeeKAdda, but i have never been familiar to wordpress. And for a kind of person i am, i could not keep myself from trying it.

Wordpress – So, after i successfully installed wordpress, i logged into the dashboard of wordpress. And yes i should mention that it was quite simple and easy to work my way around. Even more easier if you familiar with codes.

With the help of my friend Madhur Kapoor who blogs at Whoismadhur, who gave me a list of valuable plugins he uses at it blog. I was able to create sitemaps,  manage ads, etc without any hassle.

I also took a lot of inspiration from Keshav’s blog at Fabworker. All those who have visited his site might have noticed that we use same theme Arthemia theme by Michael Jubel. And since i wanted not look same as Fabworker, i started to play around a bit with the theme. You can see the results, yourself. I changed the Headline, Featured and Category pngs. I also played around with the font and default colors.

Another site worth mentioning is Daily Blogging Tips from where i got many useful tips for blogging.
