- Puppy – Puppy means “small” dog, hence the name is well suited for this small Linux distro.

- MEPIS – Originally, the word “MEPIS” didn’t mean anything in particular, it came about by mistake. When the creator misunderstood a friend over a bad Skype connection, he decided to use the name because it was a simple five-letter word and there were no other companies or products with that name.
- KNOPPIX – Maybe, named after the creator Klaus Knopper.
- gOS – Google OS was the first impression when is saw this distro but its “Good OS”.

- Xubuntu – “Xfce + Ubuntu = Xubuntu”.
- Slax – Inspired by Slackware.
- Elive – Enlightenment along with liveCD, my guess.

It should be noted that Fedora is also the free version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (I think there are some differences). I think that that also has something to do with the name.
I’ve always wanted to create a distribution called Green Shoe, or Yellow Shirt, or something along those lines. Then you could have a multi-colored wardrobe of Linux Distributions! Yeah, it’s cheesy, I know.
Cheers!

Good morning, Happy Fool’s Day!
A man went to the Police Station wishing to speak with the burglar who had broken into his house the night before.
“You’ll get your chance in court,” said the sergeant.
“No, no no!” said the man. “I want to know how he got into the house without waking my wife. I’ve been trying to do that for years!”
Happy April Fool’s Day!
