I wouldn’t put the root terminal out in the open.
Why not justdo this.
Navigate to System>Preferences>Main Menu
Click on System Tools (left window)
Place check mark in Root Terminal.
Now it is available under Applications, System Tools.
There may be some other goodies in there also.

Will give gksudo a try for sure. Lot of apps need root, so if this works, i can comfortably create launchers.
